We are pleased to announce that our 3D knitted backpack has been featured in Technical Textiles / Technische Textilien, Issue 2/2026 (pages 48-49). Technical Textiles/Technische Textilien is the international, bilingual (English/German) trade journal for purchasing decision-makers and management teams in companies that manufacture, supply or use technical textiles.

 

The article, titled "3D knitting meets active lighting", highlights our development in the field of functional and smart textile solutions. The backpack was also presented on the live runway during the Performance Apparel Fashion Show at Techtextil 2026.

 

 

 

The entire textile structure is manufactured in one continuous process with a single seam. This creates a smooth, durable product while minimising material waste.

 

Key Technical Features
Several functional elements are integrated directly during the knitting process:

• Seamless Construction Openings, magnetic closures, and patterned padding are formed directly in the knitting process.
• Integrated Active Lighting Engineered polymeric optical fibers are seamlessly incorporated into the fabric structure. When connected to a power source, these fibers emit light, significantly improving visibility in low-light environments and turning the backpack into an active safety element.
• Material & Performance The textile base consists of high-performance recycled polyester, offering good abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, and long-term durability. By eliminating seams and additional assembly steps, potential weak points are avoided and process efficiency is improved.

 

 

 

We were pleased to see strong interest from many visitors at the fair. The combination of 3D knitting and active lighting was particularly discussed as a promising solution for various sectors, including automotive, medical, fashion, and other technical industries. The ability to integrate illumination directly into a textile structure opens up many new application possibilities. This project reflects our ongoing work at Bache Innovative to explore the potential of 3D knitting technology for practical and innovative textile applications.
